Yes. The AKC standard for the Pembroke calls for a docked tail, and our veterinarian docks tails and removes front dewclaws when puppies are 3 days old. Once in a while a Pembroke is born with a natural bobtail, and we leave those alone. If you've seen Pembrokes with a full, foxy tail, they were most likely born in Europe, where docking is banned in most countries. If you want a puppy left with a natural tail, tell us before the litter is born. We will do it for a committed family, but it has to be decided before day 3.
